Tim McMahon

Vice President for University Advancement
Marquette University


As Marquette University’s Vice President for University Advancement, Tim McMahon leads a team of more than 100 advancement professionals focused on developing and sustaining a university-wide culture of giving. Under McMahon’s leadership, Marquette publicly launched and accelerated momentum for the university’s historic $750 million comprehensive campaign in the spring of 2021 — Time to Rise: The Marquette Promise to Be The Difference.

McMahon and the Advancement team have secured campaign gifts from more than 55K donors, more than 630 of whom have given $100K+ in campaign commitments, and more than 110 of whom have given $1M+ in commitments. During McMahon’s tenure, Marquette has realized significant participation increases in undergraduate alumni giving and in the annual Give Marquette Day 24-hour giving day. 

McMahon brings more than 20 years of experience from prior advancement roles at Villanova, Hofstra and Fordham universities. He earned his Marketing degree from Hofstra’s Zarb School of Business and M.B.A. from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business. He lives in Mequon with his wife, Kara, their three boys — Brady, Jack and Luke — and their yellow lab, Reggie. Beyond work, McMahon is an avid reader and writer who loves to travel and play golf and pickleball.

Cory Nettles

Managing Director
Generation Growth Capital, Inc.


Cory L. Nettles is the Founder and Managing Director of Generation Growth Capital, Inc., a private equity fund focused on buyouts and providing growth capital to small businesses and lower-middle market companies in the Midwest.  Nettles previously was Of Counsel at Quarles & Brady LLP, and also served as Secretary for the Wisconsin Department of Commerce. 

Nettles currently serves as a board member for several corporate, private, and nonprofit organizations, including Weyco Group, Inc., Robert W. Baird's Baird Funds, Inc., Associated Bank, N.A., Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., Teach For America, Lawrence University (Board Chair), the Greater Milwaukee Foundation (Past Board Chair), and Usher’s New Look Foundation.

Nettles graduated magna cum laude from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School. Nettles has received several awards and distinctions. He is married to Michelle S. Nettles. Michelle is the Chief People and Culture Officer for ManpowerGroup. They live in Milwaukee, WI. 

Sarah Sochacki

Sarah (Schmall) Sochacki has been with CCS for a decade. Having spent nearly her entire professional career in fundraising, Sarah continues to be drawn to philanthropy, believing that this field has the power to solve some of the most complex challenges in the world. She feels privileged that her profession enables her to help find these solutions and give back in a meaningful way.

As Managing Director, Sarah leads a variety of partnerships across the Central U.S. In her time at CCS, she has executed campaign planning studies, facilitated multi-million-dollar campaigns, directed development assessments and trainings, and coached development staff and volunteers through securing transformational gifts. With an expertise in case development and transformational gifts, Sarah is committed to crafting stories that marry resource development with each organization’s mission, financial needs, near-term goals, and long-term strategic vision.

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science in Fundraising Management from Columbia University. Sarah enjoys spending her free time rooting for all things Fighting Irish, teaching her dog, Fred, new tricks, attempting to cook, and participating in the occasional 5k fun run.
